I do love makeup, and I'll continue to, but truly understanding the specifics of why I feel drawn to certain products will help me feel more in control of what I want/buy/have/use and I can't wait to create my own reference-this-when-there's-something-you-long-for list. Lately I've been focusing on curating a routine that has wiggle room to experiment and play with the stuff I already own, letting myself be inspired by new launches to try new techniques and color combinations. I am realizing I feel the most joy when I can fall into an 80% autopilot, comfortable with a base of things I value but don't have to think about, and get creative with the remaining 20%. What that looks like for me is a tray displaying a full face of favorites next to an organized collection of bonuses. When I'm in a hurry, I can just zip through getting ready with my mise en place of skincare and color cosmetics; when I have more time, I reach into my pigments drawer, etc. It's a sanity saver because on days I don't have the minutes or mental energy to make choices about things like what tone of blush to wear, I can still feel put together and pretty. Then, especially now that I'm armed with this brilliant shield, I don't feel without because I do get to enjoy a variety of shiny, duochrome, luxeness in a way that's intentional and wallet-conscious -- thank you, Hannah!
