Young teens do this all the time because they end up falling in love with an older man thats promised her the world. I do know for a fact that teen girls sometimes do exaggerate things going on in the home for attention and end up getting the wrong kind of attention, my daughter did it way too many times and would even sit and record herself making herself cry in the mirror all to get sympathy from boys and friends. It's sad to say and admit that but it does happen all the time and it didn't matter how many times we took her phone away from her she'd go to school and have one of her friends bring her another phone to borrow. She only had our home wifi connection at the time and even changing the lasswrid on that didn't seem to help because she'd somehow always figure it out. She caused so much drama at school all because she didn't like that she had been grounded at home so she came up with these very elaborate stories to try and get us in trouble all because she didn't like rules and boundaries. I'm very thankful she grew out of that and is now 19 in college and has 2 jobs but still loves to be caught up in drama or start it. Police can say a 13 year old doesn't know better but you'd really be surprised at how much they do know these days especially going to public schools. I'm glad this girl was saved 100% but believe it or not, tweens and teens are NOT stupid unless they have been sheltered their entire life with zero outside contact and zero access to a cell phone. You can pretty much view anything and everything on a cellphone, laptop etc and with these parents allowing their younger kids on social media, which they shouldn't be and then the parents that are allowing it are NOT monitoring their kids time on social media is the ENTIRE problem!! That is unless your kids go to public school and are sneaking on with fake names so their parents don't find out and if they are doing that then they already know they are doing something they shouldn't be doing. I can't tell you how many times I've heard parents say I didn't know they were on social media or I didn't even know they had a cellphone, I say get to know your kids better and be more in their life. There is NOTHING wrong with rules, boundaries, discipline, and consequences when a child does wrong or bad and a parent staying consistent with those things. Even tho the kids may not like it or it's not fair they say, it's being the parent and showing you love and care about them!
